Bird to Gird Trail

What a stunning, warm, sunny morning! There wasn't a huge turn out for today's hike, but it was perfect conditions for toddler trekking and we met a wonderful new family. Along the trail beautiful wildflowers such as columbine, lupine and roses brought a splash of color to the landscape. The boys found a creek to "fish" in. Later in the summer the trail side is dripping with wild raspberries.  Covering a little over 3 miles of ground we ended with lunch at Bird Point. The kiddos took off their shoes and ran around while the mamas basked in the glorious sun!

I started the garmin about a quarter mile into the hike...

A Little Something for Everyone

From Tikishla Park to Westchester Lagoon Via the Chester Creek Trail

Some went about a 1.5 miles down the trail, while others did about 7 miles and still others went some where in between the two distances. I clocked about 2.5 hours on my watch (yes I forgot the Garmin...AGAIN). Those of us with bigger kids took a break about 3 miles down the trail at Valley of the Moon Park, to allow for some much need play time. It makes naps happen easier and last longer. Others kept going with their already slumbering babes to Westchester Lagoon. We jumped back on the trail with them when they looped back past the playground and did the return trip together. It was such a beautiful morning and as always the great conversations made us want to just keep going. So we did. It was nice to see some new faces too. About 20 parents and kids hit the trails with us today.
